North Shore City media release

North Shore City recognised as a safe community

July 25, 2007

North Shore City was recognised as a World Health Organisation (WHO) safe community, in a designation ceremony held, in Takapuna yesterday.

North Shore City Council spokesman, Patrick Cleaver, says this is a wonderful achievement.

“Accreditation highlights the city’s focus on safety and we’ll build on this accreditation.

“Future years will focus on initiatives to further improve safety in the city,” he says.

More than 100 communities around the world are designated as safe communities.
