Maraekakaho School and Puketapu School affected

Heavy rain causing flooding in Hastings District including areas to the west of Napier.

Puketapu School and Puketapu Child Centre have both been evacuated by NZ Army unimog to the Puketapu Hotel.

There is some flooding reported at Puketitiri Road.

Maraekakaho School has also been evacuated by unimog to Kemblefield Winery and to Maraekakaho Station Woolshed.

Some houses at Maraekakaho have also been affected and residents are being evacuated to Kemblefield Winery.

Kereru Road is closed. State Highway 50 at the intersection of Maraekakho Road is also closed.
