New Sylvia Park
train station and services a shopper’s delight
From Monday 2 July, it will be even easier to get your shopping fix as trains take shoppers straight to the door of New Zealand’s newest and largest shopping and entertainment destination, Sylvia Park.
The Auckland Regional Transport Authority’s General Manager, Customer Services, Mark Lambert, says, “The new train station at Sylvia Park provides easy access for shopping, movies and dining – just hop on board any Eastern Line train service. Sylvia Park is less than 20 minutes by train from Britomart and just over half an hour from Papakura.”
The new station will be open for commuters on Monday 2 July
The station’s opening coincides with the introduction of new train timetables on the Southern, Eastern and Western Lines, also commencing on 2 July.
“With up to four trains per hour stopping at Sylvia Park during peak times, half-hourly services during the day (including Saturdays) and hourly services on Sundays, shoppers and daytime moviegoers won’t be the only ones benefiting from the new station,” says Mr Lambert.
“Having a train station right on the doorstep will also give Sylvia Park staff more transport choices. About 2500 people work at Sylvia Park. In an effort to encourage the use of the new train station, Sylvia Park is offering 2000 free train trips to staff at the centre.”
