Pelorus Trust Fireshow set to Explode!
One of Hutt City’s most popular events, The Pelorus Trust Fireshow returns to light up the skies over Petone Foreshore on Saturday 7 July at 7:30pm
Over 40,000 spectators are expected to descend on Petone Foreshore for the 4th Pelorus Trust Fireshow. The event provides an excellent way to shake off the mid-winter blues and is timed so that the whole family can enjoy the show.
The awe-inspiring pyrotechnic effects designed by award winning fireworks maestro Robert McDermott, feature thousands of star shells, comets, mines and roman candles mixed with a variety of exotic delights like "Brocade Purple to Silver Water Shells", "Double Red Hearts", "V- Shaped Brocade Crown to Blue, "Blue Peony with Coconut Pistil" and "10 x 10 shot Silver Fish Spit Pearls with Blue Tail". These are just a sample of the intriguing delights in the 15 minute spectacular.
McDermott has chosen to design the show using the Pyrodigital computer firing system owned by his Dubai-based company Exclusive Entertainment Corporation.
“Pyrodigital is absolutely the best firing system available. It gives us the ability to present a choreographed pyromusical display with perfect timing.” said Mr McDermott.
The show has been coordinated by Wellington based fireworks company Brimstone Pyrotechnics and has been set to a heart-pounding soundtrack that will appeal to the young and the young at heart and which will be broadcast live on Classic Hits 90FM.
The Pelorus Trust Fireshow is the finale of the inaugural Petone Winter Carnival, designed to provide a great array of family entertainment along the Foreshore.
The best vantage points to view the Pelorus Trust Fireshow include the length of Petone Foreshore and also surrounding hill suburbs of Khandallah, Newlands, Horokiwi, Korokoro and Maungaraki.
Hutt City Council is encouraging people to arrive early, take public transport if possible, dress warmly and bring a radio and a torch. A temporary speed restriction of 30km per hour will be in place from 11am until 9pm along the Esplanade so motorists are encouraged to take care and watch for pedestrians.
Car parking is available in designated car parks on the streets of Petone and Seaview. Hutt City Council parking wardens will be on duty ensuring cars are parked legally. Please note no parking is allowed on painted or centre raised mediums.
Boating spectators looking for a good viewing spot are asked to keep 300m away from Petone Wharf, keep their boat speed to a maximum of five knots and ensure they keep sufficient life jackets on board.
In the event of bad weather the Pelorus Trust Fireshow will be postponed until Sunday 8 July. Postponement details will be announced on Classic Hits 90FM and Newstalk ZB (1035AM).
