Launch of NZ International Business Forum

Launch of New Zealand International Business Forum

The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce has welcomed the establishment of the New Zealand International Business Forum.

"The Forum is a new business grouping aiming to generate wealth for New Zealanders by helping ensure that New Zealand enterprises are fully integrated and engaged in the global economy," said Chamber CEO Charles Finny.

"The Forum will articulate publicly the needs and priorities of New Zealand's international business. In doing so, it will promote trade, inward and outward investment, and strategic alliances as well as the importance of open markets. Engagement with the rest of the world is critical for New Zealand's economic future.

"The Chamber is pleased to be involved in the Forum with a position on the Forum's Board. The Forum recognises the increasing importance of the services sector, which forms a large part of our membership, and the scope for the increasing internationalisation of the sector.

"Business has an important role to play alongside Government to set priorities for growing international business and the Forum will work closely with the Government and other business organisations to implement its objectives," Mr Finny concluded.
