Helensville Walkway Project progresses

Helensville Walkway Project progresses

A section of the Helensville riverbank walkway between Creek Lane and Mill Road will be closed for four months due to work on a lookout and landing as part of the walkway enhancement project.

The closure begins from Tuesday 5th June 2007 and operates during business hours Monday to Friday. No thoroughfare will be permitted between the Creek Lane pedestrian rail crossing and the last timber footbridge adjacent to the construction site during this period.

"This temporary inconvenience will result in a greatly improved riverbank walkway," said Peter Bilton, Capital Works Project Manager.

Rodney District Council is closing the site in the interest of public safety and requests that people follow the temporary signs and barriers that will be in place to mark the closed section. Any walkers from Mill Road to the Helensville Town Centre will need to use the road footpath network during this time.

"It's also important that residents don't walk along the railway line, besides being very dangerous, it is illegal they could face prosecution by the rail operator," said Mr Bilton.
