Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures on the Central Motorway Junction over the next week for installation of Advanced Traffic Management System (ATMS) and repair work.
Full motorway closures:
Sunday
20 until Tuesday 22 and Thursday 24 May – CLOSED –
overnight from 10.30pm until 5.30am the following morning
for repair work:
• Southern Motorway (SH1)
between Symonds/Port/Wellesley off-ramp and Wellington St
on-ramp
Monday 21 May – CLOSED – overnight from
9.30pm until 5am on Tuesday for repair work:

Southern Motorway (SH1) between Fanshawe St off-ramp and
Hobson St on-ramp southbound
Wednesday 23 May –
CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5.30am on Thursday
for repair work:
• Southern Motorway (SH1)
between Nelson St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp
Ramp and link closures:
Sunday 20 until Tuesday 22
and Thursday 24 May – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm
until 5.30am the following morning for repair work:

Tuesday 22 May – CLOSED – overnight
from 11pm until 5am on Wednesday for repair work:

Hobson St on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound
Tuesday 22 until Thursday 24 May – CLOSED –
overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning for
repair work:
• Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
eastbound off-ramp to Northern Motorway (SH1)
northbound
• Northwestern Motorway (SH16)
eastbound off-ramp to Nelson Street
Wednesday 23 May
– CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am on Thursday for
repair work:
• Port to Northwestern Motorway
(SH16) westbound and Port to North (SH1) northbound
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
