Cabling for wireless hotspots has taken place at the Takapuna Library and WiFi is now available.
North Shore City Council’s information services manager, Jeff Shaw, says that WiFi is high-speed wireless internet without cables, wires or dial-up modems.
“WiFi enables people to access their email and the internet from their personal computers so long as they’re within a coverage area,” he says.
“Free internet access is already available at all seven North Shore City libraries, however there’s been demand for wireless access for sometime.
“CaféNet will be available at all our libraries as soon as Vector’s urban fibre network rolls out across North Shore City.”
To enable access to this service, CaféNet cards can be purchased at Takapuna Library. People can also sign up for use at www.cafenet.co.nz.
