Council begins soil testing in Parakai

PRESS RELEASE
OREWA 23RD APRIL 2007
AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBLICATION

The Rodney District Council is conducting soil tests in Parakai during week commencing 30 April 2007. The testing will be restricted to council land along the banks of the Te Moau Stream and Kaipara River.

However, local residents may notice a hammer-like sound from a probe unit which measures the soil strength.

The work forms part of council’s investigation into river bank settlement and will also determine the ability of the ground to support possible upgrades to the stop-banks in the future.

The testing will take approximately three days.
