Water connection charges in E Whangaparaoa change

PRESS RELEASE
OREWA 23rd APRIL 2007
AVAILABLE FOR IMMEDIATE PUBICATION

Water connection charges in Eastern Whangaparaoa changing

From July 1, 2007 council will be changing the connection fee for properties in the Whangaparaoa Extraordinary Water Supply Area (from Puawai Bay to Army Bay, but excluding the town centre).

The new connection fee will be approximately $4,100 and is based on the average cost of all new connections in the area over the year. This uniform charge will be more equitable and will enable council to recover the true cost of the works.

The new charging policy will replace a complex system that was based on a property’s proximity to bores that was introduced 17 years ago when Whangaparaoa was a semi-urban / holiday home community.
