Transit to replace guardrail on SH2

MEDIA RELEASE
20 April 2007

Transit to replace guardrail on SH2 between Petone and Ngauranga

Transit New Zealand will be replacing old guard rail along SH2 between Petone and Ngauranga from Monday, April 23.

Transit Wellington Regional Manager Graham Taylor says this safety maintenance work will improve the current guardrail on the seaward side road and provide better impact resistance for motorists involved in crashes on SH2.

The work will take 11 weeks to complete and will be done mostly at night from 7.30pm to 5.30am. This involves a lane closure on SH2, however, motorists should experience minimal disruption during the day. Mr Taylor says motorists should just be aware this work is being conducted.

Should bad weather delay progress of the guardrail improvements, some of the required work may have to be done during the day. If this is necessary, Transit will notify motorists in advance.

Transit apologises for any inconvenience to motorists while this safety improvement work is carried out.
