Community Supports Sustaining Operation Buyer Beware
Otara’s Manukau City Councillor, Su’a William Sio is calling on Manukau to express our support for operation ‘buyer
beware’ by collecting intelligence about tinny houses and people buying drugs, and giving this information over to the
police.
“Zero tolerance for tinny houses, zero tolerance for buyers & sellers of drugs, is a message that is getting out there, thanks to the efforts of Area Commander Jim Searle and his
team.”
Our collective challenge now is to find ways of sustaining this operation long term, and to extend it throughout all
parts of Manukau City,” says Councillor Sio.
“I believe our local communities don’t just want the drug trade to be driven underground, we want it driven out of our
communities permanently, away from our young people.”
“So it will be vital that the local communities continue to collect information identifying tinny houses and identifying
buyers by taking note of names, car number plates, even taking photographs of these activities and giving it to the
police.”
