Export Wellington Launched Today
Export Wellington, an initiative coordinated by the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce was launched this evening at 5pm. Trade Minister Hon Phil Goff, and senior staff from New Zealand Trade and Enterprise represented the Government at the launch.
Export Wellington is funded by the Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce and New Zealand Trade and Enterprise as a pilot programme which will co-ordinate assistance and build the export capability of companies in the Greater Wellington region. The WRCC is co-ordinating the programme, with the support of Regional Chambers and Economic Development Agencies.
“We are delighted to be involved in increasing Wellington’s export capability in this proactive way” said Charles Finny, WRCC CEO.
“Although the programme has been launched today, we have been recruiting companies into it for the past two weeks. The response has been extremely positive. To date 15 companies have signed onto the programme. We are expecting to be up to our full compliment of 45-60 in a few weeks. I encourage any company in region with an interest in improving export performance to get in touch.”
Export Wellington will be running a series of seminars throughout the year that will be open to all companies interested in the topic. This will be augmented by one-on-one assistance and mentoring for the target 60 companies.
