Transit advises of State Highway 1 road repairs at Waikanae

Transit New Zealand is advising the public that a small 50m section of State Highway 1 at Waikanae will be repaired tonight.

Transit Highways Superintendent Reuben Pokiha says the section of road was part of the recent resealing works between Waikanae and Paraparaumu. While the resealing was finished at the time, recent heavy truck activity at the site, which was not anticipated, had disturbed the new seal and it needs to be repaired.

Mr Pokiha says in line with what occurred at Waikanae recently, Transit has ensured this work will be conducted at night when traffic flows are much lower and an alternative to chip sealing will be used which will not have any ongoing affect to motorists. The seal will be immediately available for use after it is repaired.
