Longer Central City Library hours

AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL
MEDIA RELEASE

22 March 2007

Longer Central City Library hours meet customer demand

Customers will soon be able to enjoy the services and resources of the Central City Library for longer starting from 1 April.

The library will open half an hour earlier on weekdays (9am) Monday to Friday, and two hours earlier (10am) Sundays.

Recent customer feedback and research reinforced community support for longer opening hours. The recent redevelopment of the Central City Library in 2006 has been successful in drawing more visitors to the library and therefore increasing the need to open for longer hours. Longer weekend opening hours in particular will serve to support the role of the Central City Library as a key destination in the cultural precinct of the CBD.

To celebrate the library's new opening hours, the first 50 customers to check out an item on Sunday, 1 April and Sunday, 15 April from 10am to noon will receive a free coffee from real café in our Wake up and smell the coffee promotion.
