Water polo battle

WHY: Raise
funds and awareness for the 40 Hour Famine and to have fun
while doing it!
HOW: Senior Tawa College team battling an
ex-Tawa College team. Gold coin donation from spectators.
Junior teams are playing their parents. Proceeds from spot
prizes and raffles will also go to 40 Hour Famine.
24-HOUR
THEATRE SPORTS IMPROV-A-THON
WHO: Wellington
Improvisation Troupe; The Improvisors; Joe Impro; and many
more.
WHAT: Theatre sports Improv-a-thon. A 24-hour,
non-stop spectacle of Improvised Comedy in aid of the 2007
World Vision 40 Hour Famine.
WHEN: Saturday, March 17,

WHY: Fundraiser for 40 Hour Famine
HOW:
Donating door sales to the Famine. $15 – Primetime shows,

GIRLS COLLEGE NETBALL-A-THON
WHO: Wellington Girls
College
WHAT: WGC World Vision Netball-a-thon
WHEN:
Sunday, March 18, 9am – 3.30/5pm. Concert 5pm-7pm with
school artists/bands and Youth For Christ.
WHERE: Civic
Square
WHY: To raise funds for the 40 Hour
Famine.
HOW: Last year the college's netball-a-thon
raised over $15,000. This year they hope to raise $30,000.
They choose to run netball-a-thons because of the number of
netball teams within the school – they believe it's a
great way to get maximum students involved in the Famine.
The early-evening concert is a great way to end the event
and to involve more people in their
fundraiser.

WELLINGTON EAST GIRLS' MURAL
WHO: Wellington
East Girls College
WHAT: Mural – Frank Kitts
Park
WHEN: Friday, March 23, 6pm – Sunday, March 25,
10am
WHY: To raise funds and awareness for the World
Vision 40 Hour Famine
HOW: 1.6m tall by 7m wide canvas,
divided into grids 20cm by 20cms – gold coin donation to
paint a square. Once complete, the girls will walk through
Wellington City with it and will finish by hanging the mural
on school grounds, above the Mount Victoria tunnel.

HOUR FAMINE INFORMATION
Last year 126,000 New Zealanders
took part in the Famine, raising a total of $2.67million –
this year World Vision hopes to raise $3million.
Money raised through the Famine this year will fund projects that provide the basics to children in more than 15 developing countries including Mongolia, Vanuatu, Niger and Rwanda.
The official Famine weekend begins at 8pm on Friday March 16 and finishes at 11am on Sunday March 18 (taking into account daylight saving), but people can do their Famine before or after this weekend too.
