Councillor to deliver protest to S Korea consul

RAM media release 8.3.07

Regional councillor Robyn Hughes to deliver protest letter to South Korean consul

The government of the Republic of Korea (South Korea) has banned anti-war demonstrations on 17th March, the 4th anniversary of the US invasion of Iraq.

"I am appalled at this denial of democracy by a government which has sent troops to help president Bush occupy Iraq in the interests of oil wealth and US power," said Robyn Hughes, an Auckland Regional Councillor.

"I will be delivering a protest letter to the consul of South Korea's Auckland consulate, Kim Yun-Sung, this coming Saturday. Mr Kim has agreed to receive the letter, which will be jointly signed by me and Grant Morgan, the organiser of RAM - Residents Action Movement."
