Chamber Congratulates Wellington Loop
The Wellington Regional Chamber of Commerce has congratulated the schools and organisations behind a project to connect five Wellington schools using City-Link’s high speed fibre-optic network.
The ‘Wellington Loop’ project, to be launched this evening, will enable schools to develop new shared learning applications and online education. The project is supported by CityLink, Wellington City Council and Contact Energy. Other Wellington businesses are to be invited to become partners.
“I congratulate the parties involved for this initiative and would encourage Wellington businesses to become involved as appropriate”, said Chamber CEO Charles Finny.
“As well as being a solid investment in Wellington’s education, this is an excellent example of utilising the latest technology infrastructure to good effect.
“The future prosperity of the Wellington region hinges upon investment in education, broadband telecommunications, and in making full use of the potential offered by new technology. The Wellington Loop is an example of this technology.
“We wish the five schools involved - Wellington Girls’ College, Wellington College, Wellington High School, St Mary’s College and Wellington East Girls’ College well in their use of the loop”, Mr Finny concluded.
