Heritage Item Assistance Fund
Rodney District Council has opened the Heritage Item Assistance Fund for its third year, with applications closing on April 5.
The Heritage Item Assistance Fund is a contestable fund of $20,000 per year that is open to the public for the purpose of conserving, restoring, and protecting valued heritage items within the Rodney District for the enjoyment and benefit of current and future generations.
The fund is primarily available for heritage items within the Rodney district that are included in Chapter 17 - Cultural Heritage of the Proposed District Plan 2000.
Funding applications are assessed by a heritage architect based on urgency, public access and visibility, level of enhancements and hertiage status.
Since the fund first opened two years ago 20 of Rodney District’s listed heritage buildings have been given grants including St Leonards Church in Matakana, Helensville’s Union Bank, the Puhoi Hotel, Henley House in Kaukapakapa and the Muhurangi West Hall.
Application forms are available from Council service centres or can be downloaded off the Council’s website at www.rodney.govt.nz/community/ heritage_fund.htm.
