MEDIA RELEASE

Transit advises motorists of road works around Basin Reserve

Transit New Zealand is advising motorists of road works to take place around the Basin Reserve from Sunday evening (25 February).

Transit’s Wellington Regional Highways Superintendent Reuben Pokiha says the road around the Basin Reserve is to be resealed over a one week period. To do this the old tarseal will be removed, the road resurfaced and lane markings put back in place.

Mr Pokiha says to minimise disruption to traffic along this road, the work will be conducted at night from 7pm to 6am. All surrounding residents will be advised of the work being done.

“We’re telling the residents what we’re doing and advising motorists to be aware of the road works as it may delay some traffic through the area. Motorists will need to plan appropriately for any possible delays.”

Transit’s contractors Fulton Hogan will be carrying out the resurfacing work, which will also include adding new road markings to the intersection of Adelaide Road and Rugby Street.

Motorists are advised to take care and pay attention to the signs when driving around the Basin Reserve and through the Adelaide Road and Rugby Street intersection due to the work being undertaken.
