Bikewise to give Aucklanders a cycletastic time
Over the next couple of weeks New Zealanders are being encouraged to have fun getting out and about on two wheels by joining in the many free events planned for Bikewise week (24 February – 4 March). Auckland’s events, organised by local councils and cycle advocacy groups, aim to celebrate and encourage cycling as a form of transport whether to pop to the shops for milk or getting to and from work and school.
Local events range from joining Mayor John Law at Rodney cycling on Sunday 25 February in Orewa, rambling around the Manukau Harbour on two wheels, several ‘Go by bike breakfasts’ (including Waitakere’s first ever bike breakfast) on Wednesday 28 February with lots of free giveaways, to companies and their staff rising to the two week challenge of the Bikewise business battle.
A full Bikewise event listing is available on MAXX (www.maxx.co.nz) just click on the cycle tab. And Aucklanders can contact their local councils to find out more their local Bikewise events:
