Voting Closes In 101 Must Do’s for Kiwis Campaign

Voting Closes In 101 Must Do’s for Kiwis Campaign

The AA’s ‘101 Must Do’s for Kiwi’s’ online voting campaign closed at midnight and the 101 most popular Kiwi experiences have now been decided by New Zealanders.

During the five month campaign, the 101 Must Do’s website received 7.7 million page impressions, and 195,680 votes were cast by New Zealanders who rated their favourite holiday experiences.

The ‘winning’ experience and results of the voting will be announced next Sunday, 11 February, says Peter Blackwell, General Manager of AA Tourism, who is elated at the success of the campaign.

The $2m campaign is the largest domestic tourism initiative ever undertaken in New Zealand. It aims to put New Zealand back into the holiday plans of New Zealanders and increase the number of Kiwis holidaying at home.

“New Zealanders have really got involved in the 101 campaign. We knew it would be popular but it’s well and truly exceeded our expectations! The number of people who have voted online is just fantastic.”

“We can’t wait until next weekend to find out what New Zealanders have selected as the top experience. Kiwis have a reputation for being international travellers, but the 101 campaign has been an excellent reminder of the magical holiday experiences we can enjoy in our own backyard.”

In addition to the 101 web, print, radio and TV advertising campaign, a new television programme will be launched next Saturday night, 10 February, based on the 101 Must Do experiences. The programme, called ‘Are We There Yet?’ will screen on TV1 at 7.00pm.

Visitors to the AA Travel website, www.aatravel.co.nz, can still locate each of the 101 Must-Do’s using an interactive map, and continue to blog their experiences and upload their favourite holiday photos.
