Safety first for Panmure roundabout

AUCKLAND CITY COUNCIL

MEDIA ADVISORY

30 January 2007

Safety first for Panmure roundabout

Some motorists may have experienced delays this morning at the Panmure roundabout following new lane changes to improve safety.

Clearer lane markings leading into and on the roundabout and adjustments to lane usage have been introduced by Auckland City to help drivers stay in the correct lane as they take any one of the roundabout’s six exits.

The two-lane approach on Lagoon Drive is now permanent at all times. Auckland City advises motorists to expect delays, particularly during morning peaks, while they adjust to the changes.

These safety improvements are in line with recent Land Transport New Zealand (LTNZ) regulations, which state that all roundabouts must be clearly marked leading into and on the roundabout.

Visit Auckland City’s interactive website at www.aucklandcity.govt.nz/panmureroundabout to learn how to use the Panmure roundabout correctly.
