Real Value For Money And Fun ‘To Boot’
Have you ever thought that just going to the movies is starting to cost a lot and that by the time you have bought your
family tickets, an ice-cream each and a couple of buckets of pop corn, that you are out of pocket by $60 or more…
Well Garden City Rotary, supported by the Road Transport industry and others, have got together to do something about
that problem by organising a special annual event for you in Christchurch. It is being offered at the right price and
for the right reasons.
No, it does not involve going to the movies, but about you and your family, coming along and supporting Rock At The Big
Rig Show at Addington Raceway on Sunday 25th February 2007 from 9am till 4.30pm. Once you discover the cost of entry;
that the majority of activities you will be able to enjoy cater for all ages, and that they are either free or only $2,
we are sure you will consider booking out that day in favour of coming along to find out more. You could even win a new
set of tyres for your car, a 32” Philips flat screen LCD television, nano i-pods and lots more in the excellent prize
draws that will occur on the day simply by being involved in several easy activities for $2. You will also be able to
view major professional displays, be part of the Big Rig judging, watch the skills of amazing Full Throttle Free Style
Motor Cross riders from New Zealand and Australia, or an ongoing, active excavator competition, participate in trade
activities, enjoy a $2 vintage, classic, hot rod or warhorse ride around Addington track, or a $5 Big Rig ride for two
around the block.
Ask your Dad or Grandad if they have ever been driven around Addington track. I bet most of us would have spent a dollar
or two on the odd horse that has gone the distance, but not many would have discovered just how far it is in a vintage
car or a hot rod for that matter.
An on-going Beaurepaires Truck Pull Competition and V8 Super Car Tyre Changing Competition, Griffins Cookie Bear Roll
the Chocolate Chippie Competition, Tiger’s Putting Competition and lots more are on offer along with children’s
attractions, side-shows, bands, a wealth of other free entertainment, numerous great food outlets, coffee and a
celebrity sausage sizzle.
On top of this the entry fee of only $20 per family (2 adults & 3 children), or $10 single, along with all income from the gate, rides, competitions, and any donations will be going
to support Special Needs Kids, the Child Cancer Foundation and Rotary Youth programmes. What more could you ask for
including a hay bale to relax on in the sun listening to the music, or waiting for the hourly firing of a 25 lb WW2
field gun.
So if you are short of something affordable to do that offers quality entertainment, action all day for all ages, and
that helps others in need, then make sure you keep Sunday 25th February free for attending Addington Raceway and sharing
the Rock At The Big Rig Show experience. We know you and your family are going to enjoy it.
