CMJ traffic bulletin: Sunday 21 January until Thursday 25 January

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 2 Full motorway closures: Wednesday 24 January – CLOSED – overnight from 9.30pm until 5am on Thursday:

-Southern Motorway (SH1) between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp southbound

Monday 22 and Thursday 25 January – CLOSED – overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning:

-Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound link to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Monday 22 January – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am on Tuesday: -Southern Motorway (SH1) between Symonds/Port/Wellesley off-ramp northbound and the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) on ramp

Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January – CLOSED – overnight from 10pm until 5am the following morning: -Southern Motorway (SH1) between Nelson St off-ramp northbound and Northwestern Motorway (SH16) on ramp

Ramp and link closures: Tuesday 23 and Wednesday 24 January – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: -Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound to Port Link

Sunday 21, Monday 22 and Thursday 25 January – CLOSED – overnight from 10pm until 5am the following morning: -Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway westbound (SH1 to SH16) link

Sunday 21, Monday 22 and Wednesday 24 January – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning: -Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Sunday 21 January – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am on Monday: -Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound off ramp to Nelson Street

Monday 22 January – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am on Tuesday: -Southern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

Thursday 22 January – CLOSED – overnight from 8.30pm until 5am on Friday: -Newton Rd on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Monday 22 January – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am on Tuesday: -Hobson St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.

In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.

The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
