Auckland Art Gallery’s Summer Holiday Programme
Auckland Art Gallery’s Summer Holiday Programme
Don’t miss out on Auckland Art Gallery’s summer holiday programme, starting this week. Parents can take a break in the gallery’s café or bookshop while their children take part in a two-hour workshop.
This week, kids create art in the exhibition Summer Daze, a playful and entertaining show with art that wobbles, boings, blinks, baas and barks.
They make creepy-crawly insects inspired by Richard Killeen's Flyers and badges inspired by the work of Peter Roche, the artist planning a 20m neon and steel Twister for Auckland's Viaduct Harbour.
A group of
children from South Auckland’s Manurewa Playcentre
(pictured) recently enjoyed a tour of this colourful and
larger-than-life show featuring:
- a souped-up shiny red
tractor
- a life-sized bull made of corned beef cans
-
a room full of 5,000 wobbling polystyrene balls
