CMJ traffic bulletin: Sunday 7 January until Thursday 11 January
Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.
CMJ Stage 2 Ramp and link closures: Monday 8 until Thursday 11 January – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
-Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16 link) including Wellesley St on-ramp
-Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1) link southbound
-Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Port link portbound
During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.
Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.
In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.
The CMJ Project Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
