DCM Christmas Hampers Need Filling Up
Like Christmas stockings the Christmas hampers Downtown Community Ministry staff are busy preparing are packed full of festive goodies.
To be distributed next week, DCM has a target of 100 hampers, but we are still short of the treats needed to fill them up.
All hampers, chocka full in large brown paper bags, need a good dose of food bank essentials like fish, canned vegetables and cereal, and a topping of tasty treats like chocolate or a Christmas pudding. It’s Christmas after all.
Lots of contributions have already been generously donated by church groups and businesses around Wellington but there’s still time to help us get all the 100 hampers filled.
The hampers are part of the many services DCM offers to our clients, many of whom have a history of homelessness, in the inner city. They have been allocated according to a client’s context and level of need.
Director Stephanie McIntyre says, “We have responded to issues surrounding homelessness in Wellington with innovative programmes aimed at supporting people into independence. As we’ve done this we’ve seen the transformation our banking and housing projects have made.”
Help DCM fill all 100 hampers and stock our food bank shelves this Christmas. Please drop in your food donations to Compassion House on Lukes Lane today.
