Public transport best way to Coca Cola Christmas in the Park and Auckland Museum Welcome Home Party
The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) says that special buses and trains the Authority and its operators are
putting on this weekend – will make it easy for Aucklanders to get to this Saturday’s Coca Cola Christmas in the Park
and Auckland Museum’s Welcome Home Party at the Domain.
Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) Chief Executive Fergus Gammie says “ARTA is steadily improving public
transport to get Aucklanders to big events such as Christmas in the Park. Our recent success of carrying 25 per cent of
U2 concert-goers to Mt Smart is evidence that hard work between ARTA and its operators is paying dividends and
Aucklanders can increasingly rely on public transport.
Mr Gammie said with School holidays rapidly approaching now is a great time for families to give travelling about town
on public transport a go, “Aucklanders can call the MAXX contact centre on 366 6400 for advice on the best routes, free
timetables, regional maps which show what services take you where and help on how to catch a bus, train or ferry”.
This weekend most Saturday bus, train and ferry services will run as normal, with additional special bus and train
services operating for Coca Cola Christmas in the Park and Auckland Museums Welcome Home Party from much of Auckland.
Special services include a 'Destination Domain' Shuttle operating every 20 minutes from 10am - 8pm to/from D6 Britomart
non-stop to Auckland Domain costing $2 each way, cash fares only. Passengers using the trains can alight at either
Boston Road or Newmarket train stations.
To find out more about the special services running in their area and bus, train or ferry routes, timetables and
regional public transport guides Aucklanders can visit www.maxx.co.nz, call the MAXX contact centre on (09) 366 6400 (passengers outside the Auckland free calling area can call MAXX on 0800
10 30 80) or go to Britomart’s MAXX information kiosk. Passengers are reminded to allow plenty of time for their journey
and check timetables carefully
Public transport services are provided through a partnership between ARTA and the region’s public transport operators.
