New CEO for Transport Authority

The Auckland Regional Transport Authority (ARTA) today announced the appointment of a new Chief Executive, Fergus Gammie. Mr Gammie currently holds the position of ARTA’s General Manager of Strategy and Planning.

Mr Gammie’s appointment follows the departure of ARTA’s previous CEO, Alan Thompson to take up the position of Secretary for Transport in Wellington.

He brings a wealth of experience to the position and will provide the leadership required through the next phase of ARTA’s development and operations.

“Mr Gammie was appointed after an extensive and rigorous recruitment process,” said Mr Roche.

Mr Gammie has been with ARTA since its formation in 2004 and has held several senior management positions, including Acting CEO, and General Manager of Strategy & Planning. Mr Gammie has also worked for Auckland Regional Council, and spent seven years with Booz Allen & Hamilton as a Transport Consultant, where he played a key role in leading and developing Booz Allen’s Passenger Transport, Travel Demand Management, and transport consulting business throughout New Zealand and Australasia.
