C&R Now wins election despite heavy vote-splitting
"C&R Now wins election despite heavy vote-splitting"
Citizens and Ratepayers Now candidates have provisionally won four out of five of the trustee positions on the Auckland Energy Consumer Trust this weekend, despite some vote splitting on the centre-right.
"We are delighted to have had such a strong result to have provisionally elected Mike Buczkowski, James Carmichael, Warren Kyd, and Karen Sherry. We are sorry for our unsuccessful candidate William Cairns, who appears to have been the victim of vote-splitting on the centre-right", said John Slater, Chairman of C&R Now.
"Our campaign strategy focused on the positive issues of importance to energy consumers and beneficiaries, not personality conflicts. Auckland Energy consumers wanted what was best for energy security and good trust management. The increased dividend from the C&R Now run trust to energy consumer beneficiaries is a testament to that fact," said Mr Slater.
"We believe that Voters in New Zealand are becoming increasingly disaffected with negative policies, negative campaigns and personality politics and the results of this election have provided further evidence of this. The Auckland Energy consumers and voters responded magnificently to our positive campaign and we thank them for their support" said Mr Slater.
"We would also like to extend our congratulations to successful Powerlynk candidate and incumbent trustee Shale Chambers. Our team have worked constructively with Mr Chambers in the past and we look forward to doing so again in this new trust term," said Mr Slater.
