Queen Street to be shut down for carnival.

Queen Street will be shut down by hundreds of people in a civil disobedience carnival to fight climate change. Following in the footsteps of Martin Luther King, the Climaction Coalition is using civil disobedience to raise the issue of climate change. The ralley will take place on 4th November at 1pm, starting in Aotea Square.

The Climaction Coalition demand that NZ leaders take the urgent and resolute action we need to prevent the catastrophic destabilisation of global climate.

'Climate change is an issue that needs to be tackled, government isn't doing enough,' says Gin Barker, spokesperson for the Climaction Coalition.

'Climaction' is a global day of action that is occuring all around the world in many different city centres on November the 4th. They are being organised to coincide with the United Nations Climate Conference in Nairobi, November 6th to 17th 2006.
