Bodies In Garage Named By Police

Henderson Police today continued their investigations into the circumstances behind the discovery of two bodies at a West Auckland address yesterday.

Police were called to a house in Harrington Road, Henderson at 4.50pm on Wednesday 27 September 2006. On arrival they found the bodies of a male aged 41 years, and a female aged 33 years, both of whom were deceased.

The bodies were in a garage located at the rear of the house. Police found a firearm at the scene. Police and forensic experts returned to the address this morning, to continue their detailed examination of the internal area of the garage and the property. This afternoon a formal identification of the two deceased has been made.

Their names are:

PAKU/ Lesa

Female

DOB 26/07/1973 - age 33 years

Resident of Henderson - West Auckland

PAKAU/Fiu - also known as Brown/Phil

Male

DOB 14/08/1965 - age 41 years

Resident of Henderson - West Auckland.

A post mortem examination has also been completed today. Police say the injuries suffered by the two deceased are consistent with a firearm similar to that which was located at the scene of this tragedy.

Police expect to complete their scene examination at the address tomorrow. Interviews with next of kin and associates of the two deceased will continue. Further forensic investigations are also planned to determine the cause of death to the satisfaction of the Coroner.

This matter is now subject to a Coroner's hearing to be determined at a future date.
