New look for St Heliers beach foreshore
Members of the public are invited to two open days on the upcoming St Heliers foreshore reserve upgrade to learn more about the new look planned for the beach foreshore.
The open days will be held at the Tamaki Ex-Services Association Hall, corner Turua Street and Polygon Road on Saturday 30 September, 2pm-4pm and Monday 2 October, 5pm-7pm.
Following on from the success of the Kohimarama beach esplanade reserve redevelopment completed last March, Auckland City is planning a similar makeover for St Heliers.
“The Kohimarama foreshore redevelopment has significantly enhanced the local beachfront and has made an already popular site even more appealing,” says project manager, Lorenzo Canal. “People using the boardwalks feel more protected from passing traffic and a closer link to the coastal environment.”
“By attending an open day members of the public will have an opportunity to look at the proposed foreshore designs and tell us what they think,” said Mr Canal.
If people are unable to attend one of the open days, the design information will be displayed at the St Heliers public library, 32 St Heliers Bay Road, from Tuesday 3 October.
