Partial lane closure on SH20 Mangere Bridge

Auckland Regional Office

19 September 2006

Partial lane closure on SH20 Mangere Bridge

Transit New Zealand advises motorists that between Sunday 24 and Thursday 28 September, two lanes of Mangere Bridge on the Southwestern Motorway (SH20) - one southbound and one northbound - will be closed each night from 8.30pm until 5:30am the following morning.

The partial lane closures are required to lay a new road surface on the bridge.

Two lanes of the bridge - one in each direction between Neilson Street and Rimu Road - will remain open throughout the work.

Rimu Rd on-ramp and off-ramp will also be closed at certain times during which a minor detour will be clearly signposted. Significant delays are not expected, however Transit advises motorists crossing the bridge while travelling to and from the airport, to allow an extra 30 minutes for their journey.

Please watch for electronic message signs, listen to radio traffic bulletins and go to www.trafficnz.info for updates on the closures.

Resurfacing Mangere Bridge is necessary to extend the life of the bridge and create a more uniform road surface. The smoother surface will improve both the safety and driving experience for motorists.

Wet weather may postpone the work and further notice will advise of the next appropriate night for the work.

Transit apologises in advance for any inconvenience and thanks you for your co-operation.
