CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 16 September until Thursday 21 September

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
- Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound from Fanshawe St off-ramp to Hobson St on-ramp

Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
- Southern Motorway (SH1) between Symonds/Port/Wellesley off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp northbound

Ramp and link closures:
Saturday 16 until Monday 18 September – CLOSED – over the weekend from 5pm on Saturday until 5am on Monday:
- Newton Rd on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Sunday 17 until Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
- Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link) westbound

Sunday 17 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning:
- Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp citybound

Sunday 17 until Tuesday 19 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
- Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound

Sunday 17 and Monday 18 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
- Hobson St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Sunday 17 until Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
- Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Port link eastbound
- Northwestern Motorway (SH16 to SH1 link) southbound

Tuesday 19 until Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:
- Port to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) link westbound

Wednesday 20 September – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am on Thursday:
- Wellington St on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound

Wednesday 20 and Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:
- Southern Motorway (SH1) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

Thursday 21 September – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm to 5am
- Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.

In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.

The Public Information Centre at 13-19 Howe St, Freemans Bay is no longer open on a regular basis. Any member of the public who has concerns about or wishes to discuss aspects of the project may make an appointment by phoning 0800 CMJ CORE (0800 265 2673).
