Fatal "Accident" Now Believed To Be Murder
Counties Manukau Police are treating a previously reported fatal crash as a homicide.
It now appears that a man was run down by a vehicle outside the Otahuhu Rugby grounds in Awa Street at about 11 O'clock last night and dragged more than two kilometres to where his body was discovered at the intersection of Great South Road and Portage Road by members of the public.
The main scene of the homicide at the intersection of has been cleared and cleaned and was due to be opened at 1230pm.
Related closures of Saleyards Road and those intersecting roads further south will be reopened as they are cleaned - this should take no longer than an hour.
The enquiry team would like to especially thank those whose businesses have been affected for their patience.
