National Accolade For Manukau Facility
The Property Council of New Zealand has confirmed what most people in Clendon already know: Te Matariki - Clendon Community Centre and Library is a fantastic facility.
Te Matariki received a prestigious merit award in the Education and Arts Category of the Property Council of New Zealand Rider Hunt Awards held last Friday night (23 June, 2006).
Manukau Mayor Sir Barry Curtis is delighted the council facility has won yet another award:
“Te Matariki is a superb community facility and has featured in national architectural and art magazines, attracting accolades for its user-friendly and innovative design.
“This award is the latest in a long line of awards that shows the level of excellence the council consistently maintains in new community facilities.”
Opened earlier this year, Te Matariki’s innovative design brings together a broad range of community functions into one learning and leisure facility at the heart of the community. Over 100,000 people have visited the facility since it opened.
Te Matariki was one of nine buildings within Manukau City that won merit awards in various divisions, including TelstraClear Pacific Events Centre and the Auckland Botanic Gardens Visitor Centre in Manurewa.
