ChCh/BP road closure update

Published: Tue 13 Jun 2006 04:59 PM
Media advisory 4.40pm - Tuesday 13 June
There was further snow falls on the Peninsula hills today, stretching contractor resources. As a result, this has limited the number of roads that have been reopened in that area.
Christchurch roads:
The Christchurch side of Summit Road will remain closed tonight.
Dyers Pass Road, while open, is expected to be very icy tonight - drivers are advised to use an alternative route if possible.
Peninsula:
Southern bay roads access: Bossu Road is clear from Wainui Main Road up and around to Island Bay Road, but it is blocked with snow beyond this point around to Kinloch Road. This closure cuts off access to most of the southern bays. Snow clearing work will continue tomorrow to access these bays.
Akaroa Head roads - remain closed overnight.
Akaroa Summit Road, Little Akaloa to Okains Bay section - will remain closed until tomorrow.
Rubbish collections:
Those households in Christchurch that did not have their rubbish collected today, should take it back in and put it back out again tomorrow morning. If it is not collected tomorrow, it would be appreciated if the same process could be used the following day.
