Stay warm at Artstation this winter

If you are looking to refocus your energy anywhere but out in the cold, why not enrol in one of the new art workshops for both adults and children at Artstation starting from 17 July.

Artstation's workshops will be offering classes for all levels and approaches to painting and drawing with a choice of 15 weekly classes and three weekend workshops. If studying the human form interests you, there are five weekly classes and three weekend workshops.

The popular French themed 'Print and Draw Comme Degas' life drawing workshop will run complementary to a new workshop 'Drawing and Painting' with painter Christine Gregory. The former draws inspiration from Matisse's painting 'La Dance' and gives students the opportunity to use dancers for their main pictorial interpretation.

For those who prefer working three dimensionally the new course 'An encounter in clay' is a ceramic course tutored by Mt Eden artist Bronwynne Cornish. Further sculpture courses are also available in terracotta and glass.

A professional development course, 'Preparing a portfolio for art schools' will also run for the first time and is specifically designed by tutor John Nicole for adults seeking admission to any of New Zealand's art schools.

There is also a full range of art classes catering for children and teenagers offered both after school and at weekends.

Artstation, Auckland City's community visual arts facility, is located at the old police barracks at 1 Ponsonby Rd, Newton. It is easy to get to by public transport with the Link's 'Artstation' bus stop right outside.
