Pacific Islands Advisory Board members confirmed
Auckland City has officially confirmed the appointment of 17 Pacific Island representatives to the Auckland City Pacific Island Advisory Board.
One of the candidates elected to represent the Samoan community on the board has withdrawn his candidacy.
Letufuga Canada Alofa had been elected to sit as one of the five Samoan representatives on the newly formed board. He will now be replaced by the next highest polling candidate, Fialauia Toailoa-Amitauanai.
Ms Toailoa-Amituanai will join successful candidates from Niue, Tuvalu, Tokelau, Cook Islands, Samoa and Fiji at the first Auckland City Pacific Island Advisory Board meeting in June.
The Pacific Island representatives are:
Cook Islands Hannah Ngatamaine Samson and Alfred Ngaro
Fiji Melissa Lelo and Andrew Namata
Niue Thomas Kauie and Manogi Tavelia
Samoa Feleti Key, Fialauia Toailoa-Amitauanai, Rev Asora Amosa, Asenati Lole-Taylor and Afamasaga Tuilaepa Robert Leriko
Tuvalu Falekofe Seneka and Fala Haulangi
Tokelau Ioane Iosua
Tonga Will Ilolahia, Aisea Kaifa and Sitili Tupounilia
The advisory board will provide
a key link between the council and the Pacific Island
community and enable greater consultation and communication
between the two.
