CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 29 April until Thursday 4 May

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 30 April until Thursday 4 May – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5.30am the following morning:
- Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Symonds/Port/Wellesley St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Ramp and link closures:
Sunday 30 April until Thursday 4 May – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 5.30am the following morning:
- Gillies Ave on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound

Sunday 30 April until Thursday 4 May – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5.30am the following morning:
- Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 link)
- Southern Motorway off-ramp to Nelson St citybound
- Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound link)
- Northwestern Motorway (SH16) citybound to Newton Rd off-ramp

Sunday 30 April – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5.30am on Monday:
- Northwestern Motorway to Southern Motorway (SH16 to SH1 link) southbound
- Northwestern Motorway to Port (SH16) link

Sunday 30 April until Thursday 4 May – CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 5.30am the following morning:
- Hobson on-ramp to Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound

During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.

In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
