Auckland CBD's public art work research

Auckland City Council Media Release

14 March 2006

Auckland CBD's public art work research receives supreme award

Auckland City congratulates landscape architect Richard Reid on receiving two major national acknowledgements for a council-commissioned research paper.

Last night, the New Zealand Institute of Landscape Architects (NZILA) honoured Richard Reid for his work on the plan - Auckland City's CBD Public Art Work Development Plan.

He received one of the highest accolades, the Charlie Challenger Award, one of only two supreme awards presented at the NZILA Pride of Place Landscape Awards held at Te Papa in Wellington.

He also won Gold in the Landscape Research category.

Chairperson of Auckland City's Arts, Culture and Recreation Committee, Councillor Penny Sefuiva, says, "We are thrilled for Richard and delighted that his peers have recognised the calibre of his work. This piece of work has made a valuable contribution for the placement of public art work in the CBD, and to identifying 55 new sites with strong cultural and artistic links."

Auckland City's CBD Public Art Work Development Plan will be published later this month.
