EMA Central Welcomes Western Corridor Study
EMA Central welcomes the findings of the Western Corridor Transportation Study which favour the Transmission Gully
option, announced today.
"Successful businesses need decent roads, and a robust consultation process has chosen Transmission Gully as the best
option," according to Paul Winter, Chief Executive of EMA Central and a member of the Transport Action Group.
"Now we need a commitment from the government to make funds available for the project and to get it underway quickly."
Paul Winter said that providing a robust national road system is basic government business.
"If the government is serious about economic growth, they must devote more resources to getting the infrastructure
right. A road like this is an investment in our future," he said.
EMA Central supports Transmission Gully as a strategic investment in economic growth for the region. It will also
improve the flow of goods and traffic between the North and South Islands, and will reduce the likelihood of the capital
city being cut off by a natural disaster.
