Tristram Avenue on-ramp configurations
Construction of the Northern Busway has moved up the motorway to Tristram Ave where work is about to start on the building of a viaduct to enable the dedicated buslane to pass freely over the interchange.
As part of this, the southbound on-ramp from Tristram Ave has been reduced to a single lane.
“This single-lane configuration provides a much safer on-ramp for motorists and improves traffic flow on the motorway,” says Northern Busway Project director, Clive Fuhr. “However, there will be some disruption to the local road network while motorists adjust to the new on-ramp configuration.
Mr Fuhr says the viaduct, a major part of the two-lane busway, will provide unimpeded passage to buses across the Tristram Ave interchange when completed in about 14 months time. Unfortunately, there will be some further traffic disruptions and delays during this time so motorists should use alternative routes where possible”
On a more positive note, he points out that the Northern Busway will give the North Shore a world class public transport system, both around the Shore itself and across the Harbour Bridge to Auckland City and beyond.
