CMJ traffic bulletin: Saturday 4 March until Thursday 9 March

Transit New Zealand would like to advise motorists of proposed closures for work on the Central Motorway Junction upgrade over the next week.

CMJ Stage 1
Ramp and link closures:
Sunday 5 March – CLOSED – overnight from 8pm until 5.30am the following morning:

- Khyber Pass Rd on-ramp (SH1 southbound)

CMJ Stage 2
Full motorway closures:
Sunday 5 and Monday 6 March – CLOSED – overnight from 10pm until 5am the following morning:

- Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Nelson St off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Monday 6 until Thursday 9 March – CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 5am the following morning:

- Southern Motorway (SH1) southbound between Cook St off-ramp and Hobson St on-ramp

Tuesday 7 until Thursday 9 March – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:

- Southern Motorway (SH1) northbound between Symonds/Port/Wellesley off-ramp and Wellington St on-ramp

Ramp and link closures:
Tuesday 7 until Thursday 9 – CLOSED – overnight from 9.30pm until 5am the following morning:

- Newton on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

Sunday 5 March – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:

- Hobson St on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) westbound

- Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

Sunday 5 and Monday 6 March – CLOSED – overnight from 9pm until 5am the following morning:

- Port to Northwestern Motorway and Wellesley St on-ramp (SH16 westbound) link

Monday 6 until Thursday 9 March – CLOSED – overnight from 11pm until 5am the following morning:

- Western Springs on-ramp to Northwestern Motorway (SH16) eastbound

- Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to Newton Rd off-ramp citybound

Tuesday 7 until Thursday 9 March – CLOSED – overnight from 10.30pm until 5am the following morning:

- Southern Motorway to Northwestern Motorway (SH1 to SH16 westbound) link

- Southern Motorway (SH1) to Nelson St off-ramp citybound

During these times motorists are requested to follow the signposted detours while the closures are in operation.

Transit New Zealand regrets any inconvenience caused.

In the event of inclement weather, the closures will be postponed to the next fine evening.

The CMJ Project
Stage 1 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project, completed in January 2005, covers the section of motorway between the Upper Queen St over-bridge and Gillies Ave on- and off-ramps.

Stage 2 of Transit’s Central Motorway Junction upgrade project extends from Bond St on the Northwestern Motorway (SH16) to the interface with CMJ Stage 1 near Symonds St and from Cook St on the Southern Motorway (SH1) to Symonds St. The SH16 Newton Rd to Western Springs Auxiliary Lane westbound widening project is included in CMJ Stage 2 works.
