MEDIA RELEASE
13th February 2006
Only Week Remaining for Pre-Purchase Ticket Offer
Long time patrons, returning supporters and newcomers to the Devonport Food and Wine Festival have only five days
remaining to pre-purchase tickets to this iconic event. With 2006 being the first year that Festival organizers have
restricted tickets to 12,000, pre-purchased tickets are popular like never before. By pre-purchasing tickets Festival
goers also receive one free glass of wine, which is proving a great attraction for many.
Gavin Busch, President of Devonport Rotary Club, hosts of the Festival, says “We are excited that so many people who
have not been to the Festival for a while now have the desire to return in 2006. The Festival has some refreshing
additions this year that are making it a popular destination on the 18th and 19th.”
All the money raised from the Festival in 2006 as in every year will go to charity and community events. The two main
beneficiaries of the Festival are The First Tee, an organization dedicated to helping kids to learn life lessons in a
fun and positive way by using the game of golf as a learning tool and The Michael King Writers’ House, situated on Mount
Victoria, Devonport, the first facility of its kind in New Zealand, supporting creative New Zealand writers. The
remainder of the 2006 proceeds will be distributed after the Festival to those who submit an application to the
Devonport Rotary Club.
Gates open at 11am both Saturday and Sunday. Tickets are $25 and are available from Ticketmaster (0800 111 999 or
www.ticketmaster.co.nz) or from your local Post Shop. Tickets will be available, from the gate, on the day for $25 but
do not include a free glass of wine. For more information and a full list of Stallholders please visit
