Survey Not Us Says Council

Survey Not Us Says Council

At least one person, and possibly more, saying they are conducting a customer satisfaction survey on behalf of the Rodney District Council is doing so without permission or authority of the council.

The council's professional services manager, David Cooper, says that no surveys are being carried out by his department, and that whoever it is saying they represent the council may be doing so for illegal purposes.

Mr Cooper says the council has received a number of reports from residents on the Hibiscus Coast of a teenage girl wearing a shirt with a council logo on it going door to door claiming to conduct a council survey.

"Her motive is unclear, but it is definitely suspicious."

Mr Cooper says that the council does conduct surveys for opinion on level of service provided by contractors, and some others are done by phone. But interviewers never visit homes unless pre arranged and by appointment only.

His advice to residents who may be approached by somebody saying they represent the council for a survey or any other business is to ask to see an identification card and request a business card.

"If they are unable to produce these, or if you have any doubt at all about their legitimacy, phone the council immediately on 0800 426 5169 or contact your nearest police station."
