Council Moves To Stop Arkles Bay Boy Racers

The Rodney District Council has moved to make Arkles Bay less attractive to boy racers.

Measures taken include the installation of a street lamp west of Margaret Place, raised asphalt strips 40mm high at the trailer park and a bollard on the reserve.

The Council's project manager for roading, Simon Mann says the measures are aimed at deterring boy racers and improving traffic safety for local residents. He says that council has received a number of complaints about the activities of boy racers along with suggestions about how those activities can be discouraged. Many of those suggestions have been taken on board, he says.

Mr Mann says that the situation will continue to be monitored and further deterrents may be added if necessary.
