Labour Party candidate Mike Murray wins Tamaki Community Board by-election

Yesterday Labour Party candidate Mike Murray won the Tamaki Community Board by-election with over 50% of the votes cast.
Mike Murray has lived in Panmure for 16 years. He is an intermediate school Assistant Principal and has taught in senior positions at Panmure District, Ruapotaka Primary, Stanhope Road, Tamaki Intermediate and College.
Mike is currently an elected member of the Mt Wellington Licensing and Charitable Trusts.
Labour Counciller Leila Boyle said “ Its great that Mike won, he has great skills and networks and will be a real assest to Tamaki and the Labour community board team.”
Tamaki community board chair Kate Sutton said “Mike is so enthusastic about the role and the people in the area, I can’t wait to work with him.” She went on to say “ We had a great campaign and Mike was the best candidate for the job,I am thrilled with this huge win.”
Mike will be sworn in as a board member at the next Community board meeting – Tuesday 25th of October.
